Handmade ceramic plate from Greece depicting God and Goddess of love, perhaps Eros and aphrodite, as cupid is flying above. Measures 6 in. Brought back by my mom, circa 1991, I am not sure if she found it new or if it was already old when she purchased.
Eros, also known as Cupid, was depicted as a young man, always carrying his bow and arrows [of love]. Anyone would fall in love, if touched by Eros' arrows. Even the Gods. He was also sometimes portrayed blindfolded, because love is blind.
Materials: ceramic.
