Vintage very rare, solid brass wood lined bible/book holder. I do not know the age of the piece, however, I have seen only a few of these that were from the turn of the century, but cannot ascertain date. It is engraved with a date of 1981, but it could have been an antique, and then engraved by the new owners, just not sure. THE BIBLE IN THE PHOTO IS NOT INCLUDED....Please notice the vintage patina
The outside has a French Cross design hammered into the brass with a curved back. The front bottom has a very ornate monogrammed emblem it looks like S I Y. It is footed, and measures 11 3/4 long x 10 1/2 wide x 4 3/4 in tall, the inside of the box measures 10 1/8 x 9 x 3, this piece weighs 6 pounds 13 oz!
The engraving reads:
"Defend O Lord thy Child with thy heavenly grace that Thompson may continue thine for ever; and daily increase in thy Holy Spirit more and more until he come unto thy everlasting kingdom-Amen"
